Live one-on-one instruction is the most personalized and effective way to progress through the FINAL MILE program. Each session combines expert guidance, structured lessons, and real conversation, all tailored to the student’s goals, pace, and learning style. This allows the instructor to focus on the specific areas where the student will benefit most and helps the student make steady, meaningful progress.
Introduction
To get the maximum benefit from one-on-one instruction, we recommend that students spend approximately two hours of individual “alone” time with the language for every one hour spent with their instructor. Language learning requires consistent exposure and practice, and this balance between guided instruction and independent work helps students make steady progress.
During each live session, we work with both the visual lesson material and a shared Google document where we build sentences together in real time. These sentences are based on situations that are meaningful and relevant to the student’s own life. By the end of each session, the student has a written record of the examples and sentences created during the lesson. This document becomes a valuable study tool that students can review between sessions, add personal notes to, or use to record questions for the next lesson.
Students may also use our Instructional Videos to review lessons covered during their sessions or, if they prefer, to preview upcoming material. The Homework & Practice Books provide structured exercises that reinforce the concepts introduced in the lessons and help students build confidence in constructing their own sentences.
In addition to our own materials, many students enjoy using language-learning apps for extra exposure and review. Some popular choices include Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, Babbel, Pimsleur, and YouTube videos. We encourage the use of any resources that make practicing the language enjoyable. Concepts are often easier to understand when they are presented in more than one way, and we are happy to incorporate a student’s preferred tools into their Individualized Study Plan.
What Happens in a Typical Live Lesson
Each one-on-one session is designed to be engaging, practical, and focused on helping the student actively use the language. Lessons combine structured instruction with real conversation and personalized examples.

Review and Questions
We often begin by reviewing material from the previous session. Students can bring questions from their independent study or from the notes recorded in the shared Google document. This ensures that any areas of uncertainty are clarified before moving forward.
New Concepts and Guided Practice
The instructor then introduces new material using our visual lesson content. Together, instructor and student build sentences and explore how the components of Spanish come together. Instead of memorizing isolated phrases, students learn how to construct their own sentences by understanding the structure of the language.
Personalized Sentence Building
Using a shared Google document, the instructor and student create sentences that are relevant and meaningful in the student’s own life. This helps transform abstract grammar concepts into practical communication skills. By the end of the session, the student has a written record of the examples created during the lesson that can be reviewed later.
Naturalization Through Conversation
As the student progresses, more time is devoted to conversation and natural use of the language. Students practice responding, expressing their own ideas, and developing the speed and confidence that lead to natural communication.

Individualized Study Plan
Every student receives a Study Plan tailored to their individual goals, learning style, and schedule. Some students prefer structured practice, while others benefit from additional conversation, reading, or listening exposure. Our instructors work with each student to develop a plan that makes the learning process both effective and enjoyable.
Language learning does not happen only during instruction time. To make steady progress, students must also spend regular “alone time” with the language between sessions. This independent work may include reviewing lesson notes in the shared Google document, completing exercises in the Homework & Practice Books, watching or reviewing Instructional Videos, or practicing with other resources the student enjoys.
The goal of the Individualized Study Plan is to combine guided instruction with consistent independent practice so that progress continues between lessons and the language gradually becomes natural to understand and use.
Independent Study Between Lessons
Meaningful progress in a new language requires regular exposure and practice beyond the lesson itself. For this reason, we recommend that students spend approximately two hours working independently with the language for every hour of live instruction.
Between lessons, students typically review the material recorded in the shared Google document, complete exercises in the Homework & Practice Books, or watch the corresponding Instructional Videos to reinforce the concepts covered during the session.

Some students read a few minutes of Spanish before getting out of bed in the morning. Others think through how they will describe something from their day in Spanish while having coffee, driving, or getting ready for work. 15-HOUR PACKAGE
This is our smallest package. It is perfect for the student who is tentative because they don’t know what it’s like to learn a second language or may be apprehensive to do it online. Even though we offer a free complimentary Introductory Session, we understand it takes more than an hour to get to know your instructor and get comfortable with the methodology.
30-HOUR PACKAGE
This is a popular package for those on a limited budget. It offers a 10% per-hour discount over the 15-hour package and can be paid in two monthly installments.
100-HOUR PACKAGE
This is our most popular and cost-effective Individual Package. It offers yet another 10% per-hour savings over the 30-hour package, for a total of 20% per-hour discount over the smallest package. It can be paid in three monthly installments and provides a guaranteed no rate increase on package renewals for up to two years from the starting date.
